What is woven fabric? [Decorative fabric series] Release date:2020-09-10

Woven fabric is made by warp yarns(vertical) and weft yarns(horizontal), which are interlaced at right angles. Yarns are mainly divided into natural fibers (such as cotton, linen) and artificial/synthetic fibers (such as polyester, nylon), and blended yarns (such as T/C).
There are three forms of weave, plain weave, twill weave, and satin weave, presented from different interlaced positions of warp and weft yarns.

Denier or den (abbreviated D), a basis for judging yarn thickness. It is defined as the mass in grams per 9000 meters of the fiber. For example, a kind of fiber measures 9000 meters long and weighs 150 grams. The fiber is 150D. The higher the denier number, the thicker the yarn, and the thicker the cloth under the same design.

In addition, different weaving methods also affect the thickness, visual effects, and touch of fabrics. Dying, setting, printing, embossing, and more processing of the greige can show the diverse appearance of fabrics, which creates value that capable to apply in lots of industries.

Usually, woven fabrics are more wear-resistant and non-elastic (if mixing with elastic fibers is not considered), and are widely used in daily life, such as curtains, sheets, pillowcases, shirts, cloth bags, table cloths, and various decorative fabrics, etc.
